This is a good case. Overall it protects the back from scratches, and seems to be “airtight.” However, it is also very difficult to remove, and only adds the smallest hair of raise around the screen. This is bad, as it won’t offer as much protection towards screen damage.

The Centro is a nice phone, and this case really does let it shine through. I would still recommend getting a second case to put over this one when you’re not just pulling it in and out of your pocket.

EDIT: I’ve found the easiest way to remove the case is to pull away then up on the latch nearest the Q and A keys. From there it’s fairly simple to wiggle it out.

EDIT 2: After two years of having to open this case every so often to get to the MicroSDHC slot and to reset the phone the case is finally dying. I suppose the occasional accidental drop didn’t help matters either. Anyways, I guess that in itself is a fair testament to its durability. After all, people normally upgrade their phone every two years. The case still works, it’s just… loose.

    The good things

It fits the phone very snugly and does look pretty sharp when you first put it on the phone. All of the features are still accessible and it doesn’t hinder the typing on the qwerty keyboard.

    The bad things

Almost immediately it collected dirt in between the case & the phone. I carry my phone in my pocket, so it gets pocket lint and other stuff in there. Since the case is clear, that dirt makes it look terrible. I’ve only tried to take the case off once to access the memory card inside and even though I wasn’t stressing the case too much it broke yesterday. I’ve had it for about 7 weeks, so that’s about $10/mo to use the case before it doesn’t work anymore…

I ordered this for my daughter for a Christmas gift, and she’s very happy with it. Great product for the money.

I really wanted to like this case, and it does have a lot going for it.

Its a very well designed case – solid, closes in with a satisfying click, fits the Centro like a glove, and yet provides access to nearly everything (your stylus, charging ports, etc.) you might need to use on a daily basis. I guess this is about as good as it gets for a form fitting nearly invisible case.

Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my needs.

It adds noticeable bulk to the phone – making it handle more like the older Treos. This was a major disappointment for me as I chose this phone for its form factor more than anything else. I don’t see this as a design flaw with the case however (that’s why I gave it 4 stars), its more a mismatch between my usage expectations and what the case delivers.

The second issue for me was that the case was just too smooth – so it added nothing to the “bar of soap” feel of the Centro’s original finish. Its easier to hold because its bulkier, not because of anything that the case provides.

Finally, I had the worst possible time getting it off the phone for the first time. The best way I’ve found to pry it off (other than using a crowbar) is to start at the bottom – at the latch between the charger port and the lanyard. Get that one to unhook, and then work upwards and to the right, and you’re home free. The instructions that come with the case are non existent – just one image on a cutout of the phone. Note that I tried the Q-and-A approach for a long while (all the time wanting to smash the case against the side of my desk) but it didn’t quite work for me.

It does tend to get easier to pry off after the first, but I have now begun to notice audible ‘creaks’ at the latch points, which weren’t apparent with the original fit.

This case is perfect for the Palm Centro. It fits very snugly and looks like it could be part of the phone. It does not snap off easily if dropped or treated poorly. It also allows easy access to the keyboard, stylus, and silence/vibrate switch. The case also adds a little thickness to the sides around the screen which seems to add a little scratch protection to the screen if dropped (it does not cover the screen).

The only cons I have are that you must take the case off to access the micro SD slot and the battery. However, the infrared works perfectly though the side case. Also, the case scratches easily.

I love this case overall. I don’t access my battery and micro SD card very often so its not much of an inconvenience to have the case block access to these. It allows easy sliding in and out of pockets and protects the phone very well.

I would recommend this case to anyone that drops their phone often or just want to protect their investment.
